When Your Baby Falls For The First Time

And suddenly your baby falls to the floor. You wish you could stop time right before it comes up. It’s like a movie on a loop and you would love to keep that picture of the moment your baby first fell from playing over and over again.

But that is not possible. You have to watch the little body hit the ground and suddenly it goes dim before your eyes. When your baby falls for the first time, your heart slips into your pants too.

Avoid falling – how?

You can’t prevent your one-year-old who is learning to walk from falling. This also applies if your child is running, climbing, or dancing around. But there are many ways you can prevent your little one, who can barely get out of her mother’s arm, from falling. If possible, prevent your baby from falling for the first time .

We just have to keep the following things in mind.

Never leave your baby alone on the bed.

Nobody ever wants their child to fall to the ground. Yet most of these accidents happen out of situations that can be avoided.

One of the main reasons is when babies are left alone on the bed.

Many mothers place their babies on the bed. There they put it on, change diapers, get the cradle fresh, and so on. And while they’re doing all of that, there is often something they need that they don’t have on hand at that moment. So they go get it for a moment and just let the baby lie on the mattress for a few seconds.

Since the little one cannot actually turn at all, the mother does not even think about the fact that it could fall off the bed. And then the surprise happens. While they are looking for their mother or want to see something that catches their attention, they turn around as if by magic. And then, in a split second, your baby falls to the floor.

So if you want to prevent your child from falling on the floor, never leave them alone on the bed.

Make the bathroom safe – so that your baby doesn’t fall over for the first time in the first place

Unfortunately, babies also often fall while bathing. Those little bodies curled up in your arms, lathered with soap, are really dangerous.

That is why you have to be as careful as possible when bathing.

In times when there were no bathrooms, babies were washed on the bed. While this may seem too old-fashioned today, it is a very safe method.

You can put a nylon cloth on the bed to keep it from getting wet and place the tub on it. Have a container of warm water ready, a glass or mug to pour, and the shower gel. Now you’ve made sure that even if your baby falls, it won’t land hard on the floor, but softly on the bed.

Concentrate fully on your baby when you hold it

We tend to do different things when we are holding our baby. Of course, this is not just an inclination, but a need.

Nowadays, mothers are no longer the housewives of the past. The 24 hours that a day includes are not enough to keep the house in order, attend to personal needs, rest and look after the baby.

So if you have something to do while you’re holding your baby, don’t forget to pay attention anyway. Nothing is more important than that.

What to do if it does happen and your baby falls for the first time?

If for whatever reason your child falls to the ground, you need to know what to do. Then please proceed as follows:

  • Examine your baby. If there are cuts that are bleeding, clean the wound with gauze, apply pressure, and make your way to the emergency room immediately. If a bruise or bruise develops, apply ice to reduce the swelling.
  • Kiss your baby, hug him and sing. If you don’t feel good about falling or something hurts, it helps if someone cares, or at least puts a hand on your shoulder. The same goes for your child.
  • Immediately pick up your baby, but don’t shake him. If there is an injury, it could make it worse.
  • Watch. If someone is sick and visits the doctor, the doctor always advises that the patient observe his symptoms. And not for fun. If your child falls and hits their head, they can get a concussion. Symptoms of this will appear a short time later. This could be, for example, spitting, loss of consciousness, nosebleeds or convulsions. If you see anything like this, see the pediatrician with your baby right away.
