Mickey Mouse, The Cult Figure Is 90 Years Old!
Mickey Mouse is one of the most popular cartoon characters in history. This mouse has appeared in numerous films and has become a global star. That is why the 90th anniversary was recently celebrated.
We take this as an opportunity to reveal some interesting data about this cult figure, who is loved by young and old alike.
90 years of Mickey Mouse
Mickey Mouse is probably known to everyone. It is a cult figure who connects generations and with whom Walt Disney was able to record his first success. The mouse first appeared in a short film, but the premiere of “Steamboat Willie” on November 18 is usually celebrated as the character’s date of birth.
Mickey Mouse was the first cartoon character to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The 90th birthday of the world star was celebrated with a wide variety of activities and events. Some of them are:
Interactive art exhibition in honor of Mickey Mouse
The True Original Exhibition pays homage to Mickey, who provided information about the mouse and showed sculptures by renowned international artists. The intention was to show the story of Mickey Mouse from its beginnings to today and, in particular, to point out things that are still relevant today.
The event took place in New York from November 8, 2018 to February 2019. The tickets were $38.
Disney shops
As of January 2018, Disney stores have been offering a series of 12 limited-edition dolls, as well as collectible buttons, mugs and other merchandise for sale.
These items are meant to remind us of the moments we shared with Mickey.
Disney is also introducing more than 30 new titles to the publishing industry to celebrate this milestone. This includes books and comics, among others.
In November, a celebration with film stars and musical performances in honor of the cult figure took place on the ABC channel. This special was broadcast across Latin America as well as on the company’s digital platforms.
Disney theme parks
On November 18th, Disney theme parks around the world celebrated the anniversary with some typical mouse products and special photo opportunities.
There were also some parties that lasted until the beginning of 2019.
Official Disney Fan Club Events
In conjunction with the Disney animation studios , the fans presented a new portrait of Mickey, which was made by the well-known painter Mark Henn and featured in the official fan club magazine.
The portrait was presented on November 23rd at an event at Disney Resort entitled “Destination D: Celebrating Mickey Mouse”.
There were also funny presentations, conversations and entertainment. Gold category club members received 23 special Mickey gifts.
Mickey Mouse on Disney Channel
Disney Channel celebrated the Mouse’s birthday with the premiere of the fifth season of the Mickey Mouse short films, which has now increased the total to over 90.
A 7-minute special on Mickey Mouse’s birthday was also shown at the end of 2018.
Disney on Ice and Mickey is Art
Disney on Ice also paid tribute to the star with special anniversary shows in Europe, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and the United States.
In France there was a special competition called “Micky is Art”, in which pupils had works of art related to Mickey Mouse
